My first trouser mock-up is ready, but I cannot tell which changes are fitting issues. Although the waistband feels right, the silhouette is quite different from what I pictured. Most advice I find introduces body categories before explaining how to inspect the garment itself. I have been looking at body shape and colour analysis to understand the vocabulary, but I still need a practical order of checks. Should I first check that the seams hang straight before deciding whether I like the width? I could use an existing pair I enjoy wearing as a reference for movement. The test fabric is stiffer than my planned fabric, so that may affect the impression too. I would rather adjust one feature at a time and keep notes than chase a label. How do experienced sewists distinguish a construction problem from simply preferring another silhouette?
