My next sewing assignment is a jacket with a lining. Both patterns come in my measurements, but one has a sharp shoulder and the other falls more loosely. Checking the size chart has not resolved my question. I would like to distinguish fit problems from styling choices. A simple fabric mockup might make the difference easier to judge. Using identical fabric would remove one obvious difference. That would let me compare the shoulders and lower edge. I would rather record what changes than force a category. The class has a limited budget, so I need to make the comparison before buying the final material. I can take notes about each alteration and keep the samples for our discussion. What would you compare first before cutting the final fabric?
