My current sewing project is a pair of trousers that needs more than a standard size adjustment. The waistband fits reasonably well, but the fabric pulls across the hips when I sit down. Different body shape guides seem to give me different names for the same measurements. I can record waist and hip measurements alongside the pattern size, then note where each adjustment changes the fabric tension. A useful explanation of proportions would help me more than another category to remember. Has anyone used a measurement notebook to separate body proportions from the ease built into a pattern? This is one reference I bookmarked while sorting out the vocabulary: body shape and colour analysis I am keeping colour choices separate for now, since my immediate problem is the garment shape. Suggestions for recording one adjustment and comparing the next fitting would help me avoid guessing.
