I am fitting a jacket in class and trying to separate practical sewing decisions from the language of style systems. The cotton sample stands away from my waist, while a softer version of the same pattern hangs much closer. We agree on where the jacket pulls, but we disagree about which style vocabulary best explains the overall effect. Before assigning myself a category, I would prefer to record what actually changes between the samples.
