A jacket fitting exercise has left me with questions about how body type advice translates into actual pattern changes. The cotton sample stands away from my waist, while a softer version of the same pattern hangs much closer. We agree on where the jacket pulls, but we disagree about which style vocabulary best explains the overall effect. Before assigning myself a category, I would prefer to record what actually changes between the samples. A possible starting point for our notes is body shape and colour analysis and I would treat it as a discussion prompt alongside checking the garment in person. Would you compare shoulder placement, hem length, or fabric weight first when the basic pattern remains the same? My aim is a useful fitting record that explains each alteration instead of merely attaching a type label. Photographs of each sample under the same conditions should make the comparison easier to explain during the next lesson.
