Our theatre group is choosing a wig for a small production. The character wears a jacket with a high collar, and the hair needs to read clearly from the back rows without catching on the fabric. We have kept two bob options for the next fitting. The shorter option exposes more of the collar. I was looking for clearer terms and came across bob haircut lengths while trying to describe the silhouettes consistently. We need to test the shape during the actual blocking. A static headshot will not settle the decision. We could photograph both versions from the audience area. I would use the same lighting for both comparisons. We have only a small costume budget, so I would prefer a reversible test using pins before committing to scissors. The wig also needs to look consistent when the actor sits down. How would other costume volunteers structure that comparison?
