I am putting together a costume with a removable fringe, and matching it to my own hair is proving awkward. My own photos are in window light, but the sellers show their samples under much brighter studio lights. Several options share the same brown label even though some look golden and others look almost reddish. I found hair color analysis and would like to describe the mismatch more precisely before requesting additional sample photos. Is matching depth a useful first step before trying to judge the warmer or cooler cast? The join is what concerns me: the two materials will be immediately next to each other. The costume will be worn indoors, so I would also compare the sample in that room. I can request a small physical swatch if the pictures remain inconclusive. If you have matched a fringe or extension, what helped you judge the color at the join?
